The expression soudage par friction-malaxage is the accepted translation of Friction Stir Welding in France, its abbreviation is FSW, in Great Britain this name is given to the process ofcontinuous welding by friction. The first patent on this technology was deposited in December 1991 by Thomas Wayne at the British Institute of Welding “The Welding Institute”. It is well known by the acronym TWI. This process originated from “the improvements related to welding by friction», and it continues its development.
More than 400 patents were deposited in Great Britain, in Europe, in the USA and in the world including more than 200 in Japan but none in France, these patents show the activity which is born from the interest that they caused.
Some 60 various organizations (manufacturers, institutes, users) acquired the license.
Many manufacturers offer suitable equipment; Several industrial applications are today engaged including the spectacular welding of rockets tanks.
According to the database, this welding technology does not exist yet in our country’s industry whence the idea of designing and realizing this tool was occurred to us. On December 5th, 2007, this achieved tool was patented, at the level of the national institute of Industrial property (INAPI).

Chemical gas multi-sensors (or electronic nose) are electronic devices that can be used to detect gas particles, analyse gas mixtures and identify odours. Like all electronic instruments, they are subject to drifts and need often to be calibrated in order to avoid false measurements. In previous published papers, we suggest novel analytical models that describe the steady state interactions between an electronic nose and a mixture of vapours. They relate the variations of the sensors partial sensibilities to gas mixture components concentrations. The deduced models can be used to verify the consistency of experimental sensor array data and so to test the efficiency of the sensor array elements.
