Material and Vibrational Spectroscopy

Optic [2016-2018]

Optical techniques and vibrational spectroscopies are widely used in the characterization of crystalline or amorphous material (glass, semiconductors, polymers, minerals ...). Their major interests are based on their micrometric resolutions and the possibility to obtain a non-destructive analysis of a very small part of a sample.

In Raman spectroscopy, the analysis of light scattered, by the material on their different states (solid, liquid or gaseous) allows determining its chemical and structural composition. In addition, recently developed Raman imaging is particularly promising in the analysis and localization of inhomogeneities.

The aim of this project is to characterize different materials (thin layers of zinc oxide, thin films of amorphous and crystalline silicon and thin film amorphous silicon carbide and crystalline  ...) by non-destructive methods as Raman spectroscopy, infrared and ellipsometry. In addition, this work focuses on improving analysis and signal processing methodologies to improve the quality of Raman spectra and process the large volume of data which include of Raman mapping using multivariate systems.
